Contraptioneering is the art and science of creating amazing functional machines in the game. Individuals who are trained in this delicate field are named Contraptioneers, Fantastic Contraptioneers, Contraptionistas, or FCers.

The phrase Contraptioneer is now deprecated in favour of the less-Disney-sounding Contraptionistas.
