Goal object

Goal objects of different sizes and shapes.

Goal objects are the objects in the game that must enter the goal in order to win a level.

Note that goal objects must be fully within the goal area, including all borders and corner joints; and that the goal's borders are excluded from the area. This can be a source of confusion and frustration for new contraptioneers.

[edit] It's a goal

It can be very difficult to determine when a goal object is within an area. The victory cloud informs when the object has penetrated the goal area sufficiently. The following pictures are screen captures of Reach Up using 2 wheel triangular buggies of differing heights to just achieve a goal and to just fail to get a goal. (Note that the slight bump on the right of the ground causes the failed goal to become a goal at a later tick.)

Note that in the failed goal pictures, the centre of the joint (marked in green on the detail) is still on the edging lines. To be a goal, the centre of the joint has to be in the main body of the goal object. The reason is that the centre of the joint is in line with the outermost edges of the goal object (trace up or left from the green dot) and in the 'not a goal' picture, the edge of the goal object is superimposed on the edge of the goal area border.

Similar constraints apply when getting an object into the workshop.
